Compress a PDF to 2MB without uploading it

Naukri, Internshala, and many Indian tax and KYC desks cap uploads around 2MB. Try Light, Medium, or Heavy in this tab, then download. The compressor itself.

A lot of “compress PDF to 2MB” searches are not about pretty print. They are about a hard cap. Naukri and Internshala still bounce résumés around 1–2MB. Income-tax e-filing, bank KYC widgets, and some state portals reject a phone-photo Aadhaar or ITR acknowledgement that landed as an 8–15MB PDF. Email filters do the same to a scanned invoice pack.

This page is the intent landing for that 2MB target. The actual compressor is a separate tool. You will not be redirected away from this URL. Use it to decide which strength to try, then open Compress PDF and run the job in this tab so the original never goes to a conversion website.

Why 2MB shows up so often

Job boards inherited the limit from older ATS attachments. Tax and KYC desks inherited it from upload widgets that were never sized for a 12-megapixel camera. The number is a portal constraint, not a quality target. A two-page text CV is often already under 2MB; a designed portfolio CV or a scanned ID almost never is.

Hit 2 MB on purpose

Open Compress PDF and choose the 2 MB target. The tool starts with a sharper image and steps down until the file is under 2 MB, or it tells you the smallest image-only copy is still too big. Light, Medium, and Heavy are still there if you would rather pick a quality than a number. Light is about 150 DPI, Medium about 108 DPI, Heavy about 72 DPI.

Every one of those modes rasterizes. Selectable text becomes part of the picture. For a portal that only displays the page, that is the trade. If a recruiter must copy text, export a slimmer file from Word first and try Light. Naukri’s “under 2 MB” line is widely repeated by résumé guides; it is not an official Naukri specification we could cite. Check the form.

Not the CV-only guide, not the tool chrome

If the file is specifically a résumé, the longer Naukri/Internshala walkthrough lives under Resources. If you already know you want the drop zone, open Compress PDF. This URL stays here for people who searched the 2MB number — invoices, ITR PDFs, Aadhaar e-KYC, campus portal packs — and need the same on-device pass.

After the download

We may ask for a pay-what-you-want tip. Skip is always available. The 2MB file is already on disk. Do not send an uncompressed identity scan to a public compressor to “make it smaller.” Size is the portal’s problem; the original is yours.

Frequently asked questions

Will this page send me to /compress-pdf automatically?

No. /compress-pdf-to-2mb is its own URL with its own canonical. The compressor tool is a click away. We do not 301 this intent page onto the tool.

How do I actually get under 2MB?

Open Compress PDF, choose the 2 MB target, and download. If the smallest image is still over 2 MB, the page says so. Scans usually need the stronger settings. A text-only campus CV often fits on Light.

Is this only for Naukri CVs?

No. Naukri and Internshala are the common 2MB examples. The same cap shows up on tax filings, KYC desks, and email. For a résumé-specific walkthrough see the CV guide.

Does compression upload the PDF?

No. Pages are drawn to a canvas in this tab and re-encoded locally. Document bytes are not sent to pdfonbrowser.com for processing.

Will the file still have selectable text?

Usually not. This method burns pages to JPEG. That is why it shrinks scans and designed CVs. If you need a text layer, slim the source document first and try Light.
