You type a password you already have. The tool opens the file in this tab and redraws every page as an image. That removes the open-password on the download. It also destroys selectable text and any digital signature. /remove-password permanently redirects here. This is not an unlock-without-password service.
For e-Aadhaar, UIDAI publishes the password (first four letters of the name in capitals plus the year of birth). For ITR-V, the usual Department format is lowercase PAN plus date of birth as DDMMYYYY — follow the email that came with the file if it differs. Keep the original locked PDF. The image copy is not the signed original.
Use it only on files you are allowed to open. If you forgot a password that is not one of those published formats, we cannot help.
