How to compress, redact, and share Aadhaar or PAN PDFs without uploading KYC files to a conversion site.
Aadhaar, PAN, passport, and cancelled-cheque PDFs are KYC material. Indian banks, brokers, and employers still ask for them as attachments. The risk is not the PDF format — it is the habit of sending those scans through online converters that promise a smaller file or a black box over the Aadhaar number.
PDF on Browser does not collect KYC. There is no account, no Aadhaar field, and no server-side OCR of your ID. If you open Compress, Redact, or Auto-redact PII, the bytes stay in the tab. That is the entire privacy model: we cannot see the file because it never arrives.
Before you share an Aadhaar PDF, decide what the recipient actually needs. Many desks accept a masked Aadhaar (last four digits visible) or a cropped page. Use Redact to paint black rectangles over the VID, QR, or address if the counterparty only needs name and last four digits. Flatten or compress afterward so the black boxes are burned into pixels rather than sitting as a removable overlay.
Auto-redact PII is a best-effort on-device pass that looks for patterns such as Aadhaar-like 12-digit groups and PAN-like strings. It is not a legal guarantee. Always preview. If a scan is noisy, draw the boxes yourself. Privacy scanner lists matches without sending them anywhere — useful as a second look before you attach the file to an email.
Size still matters. A phone photo of Aadhaar saved as PDF can be 8–15MB, which many bank upload widgets reject. Compress locally to Medium or Heavy until it fits. Do not use a public “PDF compressor” for this; the document is the identity.
Processing stays in the tab. Compress and redact do not send the ID file anywhere. Optional analytics and a tip payment need the network; the ID file does not. Skip the tip if you prefer. The download already happened on your disk.
No. There is no account, no KYC form, and no server-side OCR of identity scans. Compress, redact, and auto-redact run in this tab.
Prefer UIDAI’s official masked Aadhaar. If you only have a scan, redact the number and flatten so the box is burned in. Do not send the original to a conversion website.
Yes. Phone photos saved as PDF are often several megabytes. Use Compress PDF until the portal’s cap is met. The file is not uploaded.
