Open an ITR-V PDF without uploading the return

ITR-V passwords are widely the lowercase PAN plus date of birth as DDMMYYYY. Confirm against the Department email. Unlock only in this tab.

The acknowledgement you download after filing, and several other PDFs mailed by the Centralized Processing Centre, are password protected. The format printed in those communications and repeated by tax publishers is: PAN in lowercase, immediately followed by the date of birth as DDMMYYYY, with no spaces or slashes.

Pattern only: PAN ABCDE1234F and 15 August 1990 become abcde1234f15081990. If the email attached to your file says to use the date of incorporation for a non-individual, follow that email. We did not find a single stable HTML FAQ on incometax.gov.in, on this check, that restates the sentence — so the email that came with the PDF wins if it disagrees.

Why not to upload a tax PDF

An ITR-V has your PAN, address, and income figures. Unlock PDF asks for the password you already have and redraws the pages in this tab. Nothing is posted to pdfonbrowser.com for cracking, and we cannot open a file whose password you do not know.

The download is an image PDF. It is fine for reading or for a desk that asked for an unlocked copy. It is not the Department’s signed original. Keep that original for verification.

Frequently asked questions

What is the ITR-V PDF password?

The usual Department format is PAN in lowercase plus date of birth as DDMMYYYY, for example abcde1234f15081990. Use the instruction in the email that delivered your file if it differs.

Will you recover a forgotten password?

No. You type the password. We do not brute-force tax documents.

Is the unlocked ITR-V still the official file?

No. The copy is made of page images, so any digital signature on the original is not in the download. Keep the original.

Does this upload my return?

No. Processing stays in this browser tab.
